Situated in the sheltered cove of St Margaret’s Bay, nestled in six acres of garden with commanding views across the English Channel, is the Pines Calyx & Garden, a multi-award winning venue. This unique building, constructed from natural renewable materials using ‘passive-house design’ principles, is surrounded by sweeping lush lawns, an adjoining lake, a grass labyrinth, and a kitchen garden shouldered by the chalk cliffs of the Kent coastline.

St Margaret’s Bay offers peace and seclusion in the heart of White Cliffs Country. Located on the Kent coast between the picturesque town of Deal, and the bustling, historic port of Dover, it was once home to notable celebrities including the novelist, Ian Fleming, whose beachfront house is just a short walk from the Pines Garden; an ideal location for spectacular wedding photos before and after your ceremony.
The Pines Garden is well connected via high-speed rail links and road networks. The venue is easily accessible by either the M20 or M2 motorways, and nearby Dover, Walmer, and Deal train stations are under 1 hour and 30 minutes from London. It is also a short hop from the Port of Dover and the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone.
Your Wedding
This most intimate of venues, where you can have a civil ceremony either outside on the lawn, or indoors under the curved ceiling of the lower roundel, is suitable for guest numbers of 26 to 72.
Alternatively, enjoy the freedom of a celebrant-led wedding which gives you the chance to tell your love story, your way. You can be as creative, or traditional, as you like, and the ceremony will reflect your personalities, values, and your love for one another.
With either option, our wedding planning team will take you through the steps and assist with the legalities to ensure everything runs smoothly.
A Boutique Setting
The Calyx building is a beautifully located and designed venue with a natural calming atmosphere. Consisting of a lower and upper roundel, it is perfect for a bijou wedding celebration or an intimate boutique wedding.
The lower roundel flows onto the gardens and lawn, whilst the upper roundel’s private terrace looks out across the bay. Both roundels are bathed in gorgeous natural light to make the most of any weather conditions.
Your wedding meal will be served in the upper roundel, and the lower roundel can serve as your indoor ceremony space and double as your evening dance area, with the bar located in the atrium beneath the elegant, curved staircase. Guests can enjoy reception drinks on the private terrace, or outside on the lawn and exploring the gardens.
Every Boutique Wedding is styled and furnished to include tableware, table linen, table décor, terrace seating and parasols, a licensed bar, and a dance floor. We cover the finer details too, with welcome signage, seating plan, menus, and name places, all assisted by our wedding planner, wedding coordinator, and a full host of staff
